This song is largely based on the Hebrews 10:19-22, where we are encouraged to enter in to the Most Holy Place - God's very presence - because of what Christ has done for us. It is not how we feel or what we have done that dictates whether we can come to God; we can come as we are, because the blood of Jesus on the cross has made the way. We have used this at my church as a gathering song, and to encourage people to bring all of themselves to God.

Drawing near

By Sam Hargreaves

Heb 10:19-22; Heb 4:16;

Drawing near, into your presence.
Bringing all our hopes and fears.
In your Holy Spirit's power,
we will enter boldly through the death of Christ for us:

To the Holy Place of worship.

Filled with awe we approach your throne of grace.

As we're drawn to you in worship,

we will know your presence in this place.

When we're broken, weak or tired,
when we're doubting, when we hurt,
help us trust you, help us praise you,
as we enter boldly through the death of Christ for us:
