Jesus calls us to a life of radical discipleship: "Whoever wants to be my disciple must deny themselves and take up their cross and follow me". Sometimes the busy-ness and clutter of our world reduces our faith to "another thing we do", instead of it being the central passion of our lives. This song begins in a place of repentance for allowing other things to crowd into our hearts, and ends in passionate commitment to following God's will, whilst also recognising it is only God who can give us the strength to truly live for him.

Forgive us Lord

By Matt Osgood

Matt 6:10; Mark 8:34-35; Heb 12:1;

Forgive us, Lord, when our hearts are hard as stone.
Forgive us, Lord, when we trust our strength alone.
Forgive us, Lord, when the noise of our lives drowns out your voice;
now we make this choice:

To do whatever it takes in the service of our King,
as you gave us yourself, we surrender everything;
Jesus, give us the strength to live completely for your praise.
Whatever it takes, Lord, glorify your name.

Restore us, Lord, when we’ve drifted from your side.
Restore us, Lord, when our eyes of faith are blind.
Restore us, Lord, when the passion in our hearts is left to burn low;
Now teach us to go:

Whatever it takes for your kingdom to come,
in our hearts, in our lives, may your will now be done.
(repeat)
