It's ok with me!

Dear friends

This is the second draft of this page. The first came before the full scale of the Covid-19 crisis was apparent. We had big plans, including a big gathering and live recording with our families. The environmental challenge facing the world was rising up the global agenda and we were excited to be a small part of addressing it, knowing many churches would gratefully receive and sing these songs. We intended to fund the project during March through pre-orders of materials for churches and bookings for concerts and Doxexology evenings. But we had to put the funding drive on hold, and we had to hurriedly rework the whole thing into a studio album.

Now it is May and we're pressing on with that studio recording (remotely). While the world has not in any sense returned to normal, the need for churches to sing a faith which includes care for creation, humble worship of the creator and a clear Biblical hope remains. Things are different, priorities have shifted, but we've learnt that we can make radical changes to our lifestyles for the sake of the world.

We really do now need to fund this by the end of May, to pay the singers, musicians, engineers and artists. With your help we'll get there!

THE ORIGINAL PLAN...

In these times of increasing awareness and urgency, as we begin to understand the full extent of the environmental crisis in the world, we believe our love for God and his creation should be part of the language of our worship if it is truly to be part of the language of our lives.

But when we go to church, and especially when we begin to sing, it can sometimes feel like we've forgotten about the world outside. After a while, our worship language - or lack of it - begins to affect how we see the world. This is a problem, but it is also an opportunity.

Doxecology is a collection of new songs to designed to grab that opportunity with both hands.

Doxology (praise) + Ecology =  Doxecology

13 contemporary worship songs on themes of creation, ecology and Christian hope. The fruit of two years' work, including an international search taking in the work of over 70 writers, which has led us to this final collection.

In April we will record these new songs live at our Doxecology Family Retreat, a multigenerational gathering in Yorkshire. Singers, musicians, writers and their families and friends learning more of the whole Doxecology theme and worshipping together. We hope it will be the perfect showcase for the songs.

We should to have the first few resources ready by early July, with the full set due for release at the beginning of September ready for Climate Sunday and the Season of Creation.

Resource Pack

Our priority with these songs is churches. It is important that local churches actually sing them, if they're to be worth writing. So we're creating a special Resource Pack that includes

- live recordings
- backing tracks
- chord charts and lead sheets
- piano, choir and melody instrument scores
- lyric/live videos
- a 5-week study guide
- draft service outlines

The 5-week study guide is something you could use in small groups or as a sermon series. It could give you just the right context within which introduce some of the new songs!

What should I order?

Like you, we're also concerned about waste.

In the past we've sent multiple copies of the album on CD to everyone, erring on the side of generosity! But, really, we don't want to press CDs, print songbooks and post parcels that nobody needs, especially in this digital age of streaming etc. It seems to go against the eco-spirit of the whole venture. So, in that spirit:

If you usually work with CDs and songbooks, we'd be truly delighted to send them to you, we'll just charge a little extra to cover post and packing

If digital albums and PDFs are more your thing then choose that option and we'll send everything by email and download

If you always stream music or grab free chord charts from our website then how about a simple donation? It means you're supporting the project and we can claim 25% extra via Gift Aid

There'll also be an option to donate on top of any of the pre-order prices if you want to support us further.

What's the target?

We've been able to fund a good proportion of the project already, through some very generous individuals and organisations. To meet our remaining costs we need aproximately 150 people to make a pre-order during March.

Could you buy a Doxecology Resource Pack for your church and get us one order closer?

Invite us to your church

We've found this is the very best way for us to share our songs and for churches to really get hold of them and enjoy singing them in their regular worship. For songs on a more unusual theme like Doxecology, where it can be a little more difficult to slip them in amongst the other regular songs, this kind of approach is doubly important.

We'd love to come to your church and bring a Doxecology Evening with us. Imagine a kind of concert / teaching hybrid where we'll perform some songs, teach others, and talk about the theology and stories behind them. Depending on your situation, this could be solo concert with one of the leaders of Resound Worship, or could involve a small team of musicians. This means we can be flexible on pricing and no-one need miss out.

We'll be booking these concerts in short runs in the autumn and the spring and we'll organise according to geography to keep travel to a minimum. If you're interested in hosting a Doxecology Evening, drop us a line and we'll work from there!

I'd like to make a donation
